FIREPLACE MANTEL SURROUND

A fireplace mantel surround kit is a stylish way to update a family room,
living room, or rec room. A fireplace surround kit can be just what you
need to spruce up an otherwise dull-looking space. Fireplace surrounds
come in a variety of forms, styles, and finishes; therefore, it may take
some looking around before you locate the one that’s right for your
living quarters.
The Windsor Collection
If you’re in the market for a mantel surround, consider the Windsor
collection. These mantels are available in either white gympsum or thin
cast stone. The white gympsum mantels tend to be hand-finished, so they
have a smooth white surface which can be painted. Meanwhile, the thin cast
stone mantels are fashioned from a stone composite. As a result, they have
the look and texture of natural stone. The mantels are also treated with
a clear finish sealer, so they do not require further sealing. These pieces
also tend to be lighter than traditional cast stone and are reinforced for
extra durability. In addition, the mantels tend to be quite simple to install,
and are non-combustible, meaning that they are entirely safe to use.
The Choices Don't End There
Mantels that are made of thin cast stone are available alone or as part
of a kit. The kit generally includes three matching face panels and a hearth.
The panels can be easily adjusted to fit into firebox openings of various
sizes. In addition, you can also request an extra riser piece to complete
the look. Meanwhile, the white gypsum mantels can be paired with the natural
facing kits which include marble and granite selections.
The
Standard Look
The height of the mantel surround is adjustable on site. The opening width
is 50 inches wide with a height up to 42 inches. Generally, the mantel
surround is supplied in five pieces. You can also select an optional matching
facing panel kit for your thin cast stone mantel surround. The kits include
a header, a pair of legs, and a hearth which are appropriate for a number
of different firebox opening sizes.
